Victim pronounced dead at the scene; police urge witnesses to come forward - April 28, 2025

A 77-year-old man was killed after being hit by a four-wheel drive while returning home from a surau in Pengkalan Arang, Kuala Terengganu on Sunday night.

In the incident, which occurred at around 9.35 pm, the victim, Ali Mohamed, was riding a Honda Wave motorcycle and died at the scene. The driver of the Ford Ranger involved was unharmed.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said initial investigations revealed that the victim had suddenly entered the main road from the left shoulder, cutting into the path of the Ford Ranger which was travelling from Kuala Terengganu towards Gong Badak.

“The victim, believed to have just returned from the surau, died at the scene. His body was taken to the Forensic Unit at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for further action,” he said.

Police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward to assist with investigations, which are being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - April 28, 2025
