MINISTER of Communications Datuk Fahmi Fadzil conveyed his deepest condolences on behalf of the entire Ministry to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic road accident involving members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) in Jalan Chikus, Sungai Lampan, Teluk Intan earlier this morning.

“I represent all members of the Ministry of Communications in extending our condolences to the families of the victims who perished in this tragic incident involving the FRU,” said Fahmi.

The loss of nine FRU personnel, he said, was a significant tragedy not only for their families and fellow officers, but also for the nation, which holds the service and sacrifice of its security forces in the highest regard.

“FRU officers are national heroes, always prepared to stand at the frontline to ensure public safety and order,” he added.

“This tragedy is deeply moving and has left a profound impact on the hearts of all Malaysians.”

Fahmi also offered prayers for the victims, saying: “I pray that the souls of those who perished be granted divine mercy and placed among the righteous.”

He further expressed hope that the families affected would be given strength and resilience in facing this difficult time.

“We also pray for a speedy recovery for all those injured in the incident and for the smooth progress of their medical treatment,” he said.

Fahmi affirmed the Ministry of Communications’ commitment to supporting the authorities and the media in disseminating accurate information while combating the spread of misinformation.

“The Ministry stands ready to cooperate with the authorities and media in providing verified information and in curbing the spread of false news concerning this incident, out of respect for the victims’ families and the ongoing investigation.”

“Al-Fatihah,” he concluded.

Ten Dead in Teluk Intan Crash

The collision between a trailer lorry and a police truck carrying Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel in Teluk Intan has claimed ten lives, including the trailer driver and nine FRU officers.

In a latest development, the driver of the trailer lorry involved in the fatal collision with a Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) police truck in Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam, Teluk Intan, has died while receiving treatment in hospital, raising the death toll in the tragic incident to ten.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Director Sayani Saidon confirmed that the trailer driver, who had been transporting a load of stones, succumbed to his injuries at Teluk Intan Hospital.

“The trailer driver has also been confirmed dead, bringing the total number of fatalities to ten,” she was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

Sayani also clarified that there were 18 FRU officers onboard the truck at the time of the incident.

Earlier, Hilir Perak District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin reported that nine FRU personnel had died in the accident—eight at the scene and one more later in hospital.

He added that five others sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin stated that all FRU personnel involved were from Unit 5 based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh.
