THE Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is currently resting at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

Asean Chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the ruler was experiencing fatigue, reported The New Straits Times.

"He's feeling a bit tired and is resting at IJN," Anwar said briefly during a press conference following the 46th Asean Summit and related meetings held here today.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is currently in Malaysia along with other Asean leaders to attend the Summit, the 2nd Asean-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and the inaugural Asean-GCC-China Summit.

Earlier, a government source confirmed to news agency AFP that the sultan had been hospitalised due to fatigue.

"He was admitted to hospital between the Asean-GCC and Asean-GCC-China Summits," the source said.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah arrived in Malaysia yesterday at the Subang Air Base, where he was welcomed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Malaysia's Chief of Ceremony Datuk Rozainor Ramli. – May 27, 2025
