THE body of a woman believed to have been fatally slashed by her husband has been taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination following the fatal incident on Monday.
It is understood that the remains were transported to the hospital around 3pm on Tuesday, accompanied by several family members.
A visit by Sinar Harian to the Forensic Medicine Department at Melaka Hospital on Wednesday morning revealed no next of kin present at the premises. The post-mortem was believed to have commenced at 9am, with the family expected to claim the body around midday.
The incident, which occurred at a home in Taman Cahaya, Bukit Gambir, was first reported by on Tuesday night. The woman was said to have been attacked by her husband in what police suspect to be a domestic homicide.
According to sources, the suspect—believed to be in his 30s—later attempted to set fire to his mother-in-law’s house in Lenga, Pagoh, some 40 kilometres from the initial crime scene.
Tangkak District Police Chief, Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib, confirmed the incident when contacted.
It was earlier reported that the unemployed 33-year-old suspect was remanded for seven days after being brought before the Tangkak Magistrate’s Court.
During the remand proceedings, the suspect was reported to have screamed and shouted religious exclamations, including the takbir, as court officials carried out the procedure.
Magistrate Lee Kim Kiat granted the remand order to facilitate investigations under Section 320 and Section 435 of the Penal Code, concerning culpable homicide and mischief by fire. - June 4, 2025
