POLICE are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to formally confirm the identity of a man’s body found at the base of a lift shaft at a construction site in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
The discovery was made on Tuesday evening, with the body—believed to be that of a foreign male—retrieved around 9.30pm and sent to the University of Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for forensic examination.
Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the post-mortem commenced at 10.30am today. “The victim’s identity has yet to be confirmed until the post-mortem process is complete,” he told Astro Awani.
The body was found face down with most of its clothing dislodged, inside a shaft at the lower level of an active construction site. Authorities believe the site is the last known location of Jordan Michael John Johnson-Doyle, a 25-year-old British national who was reported missing on 27 May.
“The area where the body was discovered is quite concealed and challenging to access,” said Ku Mashariman. “Following the missing person report lodged by the victim’s father on 2 June at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters, we launched a large-scale operation around the area.”
Although the body matches the general description of the missing individual, police are treating the matter with caution pending official confirmation through forensic identification.
Ku Mashariman confirmed that the case has been classified as *sudden death* (SDR), and the precise cause of death remains under investigation.
He added that the unusual condition in which the body was discovered, along with the location, had made recovery efforts complex. “We had to proceed carefully due to the shaft's depth and restricted space,” he said.
