FIVE family members were killed in a tragic road accident involving a Perodua Bezza and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on Jalan Jerantut Feri, Jerantut, early Saturday morning.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the deceased were identified as Mohd Ikmal Ishak, 26; Nur Arfiqah Aziz Jaafar, 23; Nurul Hazwani Aziz Jaafar, 17; Mohd Azizul Hakimi Aziz Jaafar, 19; and Mohd Zulkifli Aziz Jaafar, 21. All were from Ulu Kinta and Bota in Perak.

The collision was reported at 12.39am. Two of the victims were found trapped inside the wreckage, while the other three had been thrown from the vehicle, Sinar Harian reported today.

“The driver and two passengers of the Toyota Alphard MPV – two men and a woman – sustained injuries,” Mohd Razam said.

Following the emergency call, five fire personnel and a rescue engine from the Jerantut Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

“Our team used rescue tools to extricate the victims who were trapped inside the car,” he said.

He confirmed that all deceased victims were handed over to the police for further procedures, while the injured were transported to Jerantut Hospital for treatment. - June 7, 2025
