Collision with van near Pantai Lido results in fatal ejection; police appeal for witnesses as investigation continues

A 39-YEAR-old woman was killed after losing control of her car and crashing into a van along Kilometre 4 of Jalan Skudai, near Pantai Lido, early Monday morning.

Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at approximately 6.45am and involved a Perodua Bezza driven by the victim and a van driven by a 60-year-old man.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the Perodua Bezza lost control of her vehicle and collided with the rear right side of the van,” he said in a statement.

“As a result of the impact, the car veered off to the left side of the road, and the woman was thrown from the vehicle.”

She was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries. The van driver was not injured.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving causing death.

Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation by contacting the Johor Bahru Selatan Traffic Police Station or calling Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Zulpaka Bambo at 014-8861791. - June 16, 2025
