A DECOMPOSED, unclothed body discovered hanging from a tree in a palm oil estate at Felda Gunung Besout 2, Trolak, has been confirmed as that of an adult male, police said on Monday.

Muallim District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir (pic) said the remains were found by a member of the public who had been searching for livestock in the area at approximately 5.13pm on Sunday.

“A post-mortem conducted at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun estimated the time of death to be at least several weeks, possibly months ago,” he said in a statement.

He added that the cause of death could not be determined due to the advanced state of decomposition, with the remains exhibiting signs of mummification.

“No external injuries were found, and the case is currently classified as a sudden death,” he added.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who may be missing a family member or friend to come forward to assist in the investigation.
