Terengganu floods look set to end, all shelters closed

KUALA TERENGGANU – The floods in Terengganu have fully receded with the last two relief centres (PPS) in Dungun officially closing at 1pm today.

State disaster management committee secretariat chief, Lt Col Che Adam A Rahman said all 114 evacuees from 34 families taking shelter at the two PPS were allowed to return home.

“Although all PPS have been closed, the relevant agencies are still on standby and residents in high-risk areas also need to be alert to any weather changes in their areas,” he told reporters today.

The last two relief centres in Kemaman closed its doors at 9.30am today.

Terengganu faced the first wave of floods from November 17 to November 19  while the second wave was from November 23 to December 2.

A week after the third wave of floods ended on December 9, the state experienced another round of floods in Kemaman on December 17, and which look set to end today. – Bernama, December 23, 2020
