POLICE have obtained closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in an effort to track down the suspect in the murder of a female student at a local university in Cyberjaya, Selangor, on Tuesday.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the CCTV footage was obtained from various sources and several nearby locations.

“The footage will be used to identify the suspect and to narrow the location where the suspect may be,” he said as reported by Utusan Malaysia.

Earlier, the media reported that the police had classified the death of a student at a private university in Cyberjaya as murder following injuries suffered by the victim.

It is understood that 20-year-old Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara was confirmed to have died from head injuries caused by a blunt object, but there were no signs of sexual assault.

The victim, who was originally from Sarawak, was found dead by a housemate with head injuries at approximately 10.28am in Mutiara Ville, Cyberjaya. – June 26, 2025
