UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed confidence that the people of Kedah are ready to embrace a change in state leadership, citing growing public awareness of the need for stable and compassionate governance.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025 KEDA Rural Youth and Programme Implementation Planning Committee (4P) Convention on Friday evening, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, urged Kedahans to support leaders capable of safeguarding their welfare and guiding the state's future.

“I hope change will come. It is not easy to bring about change overnight, but it is not impossible. Insya-Allah, Kedah will return to being under better leadership — one that truly cares for the people,” he said.

He noted that Kedahans have endured significant challenges in recent years and deserve a government that prioritises their interests.

Highlighting the importance of the people’s role in shaping the future, Ahmad Zahid called for a concerted push towards meaningful and lasting political change. “The people's role is vital in shaping the future through wise choices,” he said.

The remarks come amid increasing political attention on Kedah, with UMNO and its allies seeking to regain control of the northern state ahead of the next electoral cycle. - July 26, 2025
