THE infant boy who was born by the roadside near a traffic light junction in Taman Bukit Dahlia, Johor Bahru, last Sunday is reported to be in good health and receiving appropriate medical care.

His mother, a woman originally from Sabah who has resided in Johor for nearly a year, told Sinar Harian that the baby is currently being treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), where he is being administered antibiotics as a precaution against infection.

“Alhamdulillah, my baby weighs 2.63 kilogrammes,” she said in a brief phone interview on Thursday.

She added that the newborn has not yet been named. The woman declined to continue the interview, saying she was still emotionally unsettled following the dramatic circumstances of the birth.

The incident went viral on TikTok after it was revealed that the woman had gone into labour unexpectedly and delivered her baby with the help of seven passersby of various ethnic backgrounds.

These individuals, believed to be motorists who happened to be nearby, stepped in to assist with the delivery and ensured both mother and baby remained safe while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. - August 14, 2025
