FORMER Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli today revealed that threatening messages were sent to his wife after their 12-year-old son was attacked yesterday.

Among the messages received at 1.45pm yesterday was one threatening their son with AIDS infection.

“The message read ‘shut up, if you continue, AIDS’,” said Rafizi, who is also a former PKR Deputy President. Also included was a syringe emoji, he told a press conference in Parliament today.

Meanwhile, the Pandan MP believes that the attack on his son at a shopping mall in Putrajaya yesterday was an attempt to ‘shut him up’ regarding a scandal.

Rafizi, however, did not reveal details about the 'scandal', but said that the information was received as a result of his meeting with a group of informants, on Wednesday last week.

"In my opinion, this is an attempt to silence me. There is something I am looking into and this (attack) is a message for me.

“There was indeed a group of whistleblowers who came to see me last Wednesday regarding a money-related scandal.

“I mean, I think the parties involved knew that if I started to see a scandal, I would ‘go deep’ (investigate more in-depth) … to me, they wanted me to ‘move on’ and not continue with it,” he said. – August 14, 2025
