A WOMAN sustained serious injuries after her husband allegedly slashed her before turning the weapon on himself in a domestic altercation at Taman Tunas Muda, Sungai Ara, near Bayan Lepas early Tuesday morning.

Southwest District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, confirmed the incident, which was reported at around 6.00 am.

"A call was received at 6.00 am regarding a domestic dispute involving a married couple in Taman Sungai Muda, Sungai Ara," he said at the scene. "The husband is believed to have attacked his wife with a sharp object before inflicting injuries on himself."

Both individuals were rushed to Penang General Hospital (HPP) by ambulance for further treatment.

As of this morning, further details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain pending, with media awaiting a formal press briefing from police at the scene. - August 27, 2025
