THE investigation into the case of a Form Three student who suffered serious injuries after falling from the third floor of a school dormitory in Sabak Bernam is gaining traction as police begin to piece together key leads that could uncover the root cause of the incident.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said that while the investigation is still ongoing, developments are showing a clearer direction.
“The investigation remains active, but it is now heading in a more positive direction to determine the actual cause of the incident,” he told Berita Harian, adding that many parties have cooperated with the police so far.
It is understood that statements have been recorded from more than 12 individuals, including students and school staff, though Shazeli declined to confirm the exact number of witnesses involved.
The incident occurred on 24 August, when 15-year-old Ahmad Irfan Ahmad Hanafi reportedly fell from the third floor of the school’s dormitory building. He sustained severe injuries and was initially treated at Sabak Bernam Hospital before being transferred to Sungai Buloh Hospital (HSB), where he remains under intensive care.
Earlier, Shazeli confirmed that the investigation is exploring all angles, including student safety protocols, dormitory management, and the social background of the victim and his peers.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, while the Ministry of Education has also launched an internal inquiry into the school’s standard operating procedures for dormitory safety.
Selangor’s Executive Councillor for Public Health and Environment, Jamaliah Jamaluddin, said yesterday that the student is currently in a stable condition in HSB’s Intensive Care Unit and is responding positively to treatment. - August 31, 2025
