A POLICE officer attached to the Royal Palace’s motorcycle escort unit was killed when his vehicle skidded while trying to avoid a fallen tree on Jalan Sungai Tua, Ulu Yam early Tuesday morning.

The victim, Corporal Muhammad Faizal Ab Razak, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 7.10am incident. He was travelling from Batang Kali to Kuala Lumpur when the accident occurred.

Hulu Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Ibrahim Husin, said the officer lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to swerve around the tree, causing him to veer into the opposite lane and crash.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Superintendent Ibrahim also appealed to members of the public who witnessed the crash or may have information to come forward by contacting Investigating Officer Inspector Khairul Salleh Abdull Rahman at 03-60641222 or reporting to the nearest police station.
