PM calls on Muslims to embrace prophet’s legacy in nation-building
Anwar stresses preparedness for the future must not only be structural but also spiritual and moral, rooted in prophetic wisdom - Sept 5, 2025

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysian Muslims to embrace the teachings and exemplary leadership of Prophet Muhammad SAW in the nation’s journey towards justice, unity and civilisation rooted in humanity.

In his Maulidur Rasul message on Friday, Anwar described the Prophet not only as an exceptional individual but also as a “symbol of unity and leadership,” particularly through the model of community-building in Madinah — one based on tauhid (monotheism), knowledge, moral conduct, and the rule of law.

“Rasulullah SAW offers a vision and aspiration of humanity that shines with honesty and inner clarity, which continues to guide us to this day,” he said. “He laid the foundations of civilisation through values such as human dignity, justice, knowledge, morality, and humanity based on divine teachings.”

Drawing upon the Prophet’s leadership in forming what he called a MADANI society in Madinah, Anwar said it was a prime example of a ‘khayra ummah’ — an exemplary community characterised by faith, virtue, service to humanity, and the commitment to uphold good and prevent wrongdoing.

He cited Surah Ali Imran, verse 110, as a divine reminder: “You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah.”

Anwar also posted on social media to reflect on the deeper civilisational impact of the Prophet’s leadership, referring to Madinat al-Nabi as a beacon of ethical governance and human progress.

“The term ‘al-Madinat al-Munawwarah’ symbolises a city civilisation illuminated by divine revelation and anchored in tauhid. It reflects an aspiration for urban development as the foundation of civilisation — one that would later influence the world profoundly,” he wrote.

He stressed that preparedness for the future must not only be structural but also spiritual and moral, rooted in prophetic wisdom.

“Rooted in the prophetic tradition and the mercy of Allah SWT, let us confront the trials of building our nation with the example and wisdom of the Messenger,” he said. “May a deep appreciation and understanding of the Prophet’s teachings and legacy guide us to work harder, with greater discipline and optimism for the future of the ummah.”

Anwar's message aligns with his broader Malaysia Madani vision — a national framework promoting values of civilisation, inclusivity and compassion — with the Prophet’s model of governance and community development serving as its moral compass. - Sept 5, 2025
