THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed it is seeking detailed information from authorities in the United Kingdom regarding assets allegedly linked to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Speaking at a press conference at MACC headquarters on Tuesday, Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the investigation into Dr Mahathir remained ongoing, with a specific focus now on foreign-held assets.

“We are currently in the process of obtaining information from UK authorities regarding assets owned by Dr Mahathir,” said Azam.

“If the information is successfully obtained, we will make an announcement in due course,” he added.

The probe forms part of a broader investigation into undeclared or suspicious wealth linked to current and former public officials, as the MACC continues efforts to trace funds and properties held outside Malaysia.

While Azam did not provide further details on the nature or value of the assets in question, he confirmed that requests for international cooperation were underway as part of the agency’s pursuit of financial transparency and accountability. - September 9, 2025
