THE Immigration Department has confirmed it has not received any official request to revoke the international passport of Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Director-General of Immigration Datuk Zakaria Shaaban told Berita Harian on Wednesday that “as of now, I have not received any such application.”
He clarified that any application to cancel an individual’s passport must be made directly to the Immigration Department and not through the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN).
On Tuesday, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the agency had submitted a request for Muhammad Adlan’s passport to be revoked as efforts to locate him continue.
“We have taken action and hope the Home Ministry agrees to the request to cancel his passport,” Azam said during a press conference in Petaling Jaya.
He added that Muhammad Adlan is believed to be in a Middle Eastern country with which Malaysia does not have an extradition treaty. However, negotiations are ongoing with the authorities there to secure his return.
On 7 August 2023, the MACC disclosed it was seeking Muhammad Adlan and lawyer Mansoor Saat, 70, to assist in investigations into alleged misappropriation involving a ministry’s foreign worker biometric registration project.
The pair were found to have left Malaysia on 17 and 21 May 2023 respectively.
In October last year, the then Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, confirmed that red notice applications for both men had been submitted to Interpol. - September 11, 2025
