A MAN believed to be attempting to steal cable was rescued after becoming trapped on a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) pillar in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene on Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad at 2.41am, following a distress call, according to the Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre (PGOKL).

“A team from the Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed to the location, along with a rescue vehicle,” PGOKL said in a statement issued today.

“Rescue personnel carried out the operation using an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) to safely lower the victim.”

The man, a 30-year-old Malaysian, was successfully brought down from the structure and handed over to the police for further action.

“According to police, the individual is suspected of involvement in criminal cable theft activity,” the statement added.

A total of 12 fire and rescue personnel, including officers of various ranks, were involved in the operation. - September 11, 2025
