FORMER PKR Deputy President, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli described the No Further Action (NFA) regarding criminal investigations involving politicians as a 'great award' that is more valuable than ordinary medals.
He said that 68 percent of the NFAs were for politicians who had criminal investigation papers opened involving the three Prime Ministers from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
In this regard, he said that all parties and politicians from different parties cannot point fingers at each other by saying who is worse.
"Another way to see the greatness of this award is that it is difficult to get on it but once you are on the shortlist, the chance of getting this award is easy.
"The reason why 41 received it from the 60 shortlisted means 68 percent, which is more than two-thirds, ultimately succeeded.
"I think the value of this great award must be in the millions, because each of those shortlisted must involve transactions involving millions," he said through a sharing on X.
The Pandan MP added that with the number in question, it is no wonder why the people compare the difference between ordinary prosecutions and criminal investigations involving politicians.
"When more than two-thirds are given NFA awards and are not even charged, I understand if the people compare it to the treatment of ordinary citizens accused of stealing milk. I don't even know what to comment on.
"Better we go home and play with our cats," he joked.
Previously, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said during the Dewan Rakyat sitting said that two-thirds of the investigation papers opened between 2020 and July this year regarding criminal cases involving politicians were classified as NFA.
Azalina cited data from the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC), stating that 41 out of 60 cases were categorized as NFA.
However, Azalina explained that authorities are authorised to conduct further investigations into cases classified as NFA if the situation changes in the future. – September 13, 2025
