THE 71st PAS Annual Congress (Muktamar Tahunan PAS Pusat), which began on Monday, saw the attendance of several senior national political figures, including President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and his deputy, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

Also present was Bersatu Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who joined in the opening ceremony of the congress, which commenced at 9am.

Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, President of Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang), was also among those in attendance.

It was understood that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was unable to attend due to unspecified reasons, despite the presence of 4,200 delegates from across the country.

The ceremony opened with a procession of dignitaries led by PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, accompanied by the party's Spiritual Leader, Datuk Hashim Jasin.

The parade also included Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, and Kedah PAS Commissioner, Datuk Ahmad Yahaya, who is hosting this year’s congress. - September 15, 2025
