A TECHNICAL malfunction on a bus is believed to have caused the driver to lose control, leading to a six-vehicle collision along Jalan Hang Tuah heading towards Jalan Imbi, directly in front of the Al-Bukhary Mosque, late last night.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 11.30pm and involved two buses, an MPV, and three cars.
Initial investigations suggest the crash began when a tour bus, driven by a man in his 40s, lost control due to an apparent mechanical issue and rammed into a Nissan Sylphy driven by a 56-year-old man.
“The impact of the collision caused a second bus, driven by a 47-year-old man, to become involved, along with a Hyundai Staria MPV, a Toyota Vios driven by a 29-year-old, and a Honda City driven by a 24-year-old,” said Mohd Zamzuri in a statement issued today.
Both buses were carrying passengers at the time of the crash, but no injuries were reported among them. All passengers managed to evacuate safely at the scene.
However, the driver of the Nissan Sylphy and several of his passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for treatment. All are reported to be in stable condition.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving,” added Mohd Zamzuri.
Separately, Harian Metro reported that five individuals were injured in the collision, which involved four private vehicles and two tour buses. The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre received a distress call via the MERS999 emergency system at 10.49pm and promptly dispatched a team to the scene. - September 15, 2025
