SEVERAL thrill-seeking motorcyclists performing the notorious 'Superman' stunt and engaging in illegal street racing were arrested early this morning during a police operation along the Second Link Expressway and Johor Bahru-Pontian Highway.

Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, said the operation — codenamed Ops Samseng Jalanan — was carried out by the district traffic enforcement unit and resulted in the inspection of 29 individuals aged between 14 and 28.

“A total of 27 motorcycles were stopped, and 64 traffic summonses were issued for various offences, including failure to comply with Road Transport Department (JPJ) specifications,” he said in a statement.

Among the offences were illegal exhaust modifications, non-compliant number plates and riding without a valid licence. Police confiscated 25 motorcycles under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Kumarasan added that two foreign nationals, both aged 19, were also arrested and are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the same Act for reckless and dangerous riding. Their motorcycles were seized.

“These highways have been identified as hotspots for illegal street racing and dangerous stunts. Our enforcement efforts will continue to ensure public safety,” he said. - September 20, 2025
