AN express bus carrying 15 people, including the driver, overturned in the early hours of Friday in Kampung Batu Balai along the Kuala Krai–Kota Bharu road, leaving at least two passengers trapped.

The Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed receiving an emergency call via the MERS system at 5.30am from a member of the public.

A team of 13 personnel, supported by three fire engines from the Sungai Durian and Kuala Krai fire stations, was deployed to the scene and arrived at approximately 5.54am.

“Upon arrival, it was found that an express bus had been involved in an accident with a total of 15 people on board, including the driver. Two victims were reported to be trapped,” a JBPM spokesperson said.

Rescue operations are ongoing as firefighters continue efforts to extricate the trapped individuals and secure the scene. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. - September 26, 2025
