HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim today granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during which the monarch was formally presented with the federal government’s Budget 2026 proposals.

According to an official statement released on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, the session took place at Istana Bukit Tunku, with the Prime Minister submitting the completed budget document ahead of its scheduled tabling in Parliament tomorrow.

Anwar, who also holds the Finance Ministry portfolio, will present the Supply (Budget) Bill 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm, in what will be the fourth national budget under the MADANI Government.

Speaking at a media editors’ briefing in Putrajaya yesterday, the Prime Minister said the Budget aims to uphold the people’s welfare while reinforcing economic resilience and laying stronger foundations for inclusive, sustainable development.

According to the parliamentary agenda, MPs will begin debate on the Bill at the policy stage over eight sitting days, followed by ministerial winding-up speeches from 29 October to 4 November.

The committee stage debates will run from 5 to 27 November before the Bill is expected to be passed by the Lower House. - October 9, 2025
