Optimise allocations to ensure public benefit - Fadillah
Fadillah emphasises the need for strong synergy between federal and state agencies to deliver projects and programmes efficiently - October 11, 2025

DEPUTY Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has called for all allocations under Budget 2026 to be fully optimised to ensure they achieve their intended goals, particularly in securing the wellbeing of the people.

Speaking during a press conference in Kuching today, Fadillah emphasised the need for strong synergy between federal and state agencies to deliver projects and programmes efficiently and within scope.

“We must ensure that every project and programme outlined in Budget 2026 is implemented effectively according to the specified timeframe, scope of work, and budget,” he said.

“Monitoring mechanisms must also be robust to ensure that allocated funds are spent. There are instances where funds are allocated but remain underutilised, which defeats the very purpose and objectives we set out to achieve,” he added.

His remarks come a day after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled the RM470 billion Budget 2026, with a strong focus on economic growth and equitable wealth distribution.

The Budget includes RM338.2 billion in federal operating expenditure and RM81 billion in development expenditure, with an additional RM51.8 billion sourced from government-linked investment companies (GLICs), public-private partnerships, and federal statutory bodies.

As the first budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Budget 2026 is seen as laying the foundation for Malaysia’s national development over the next five years. It is also the fourth national budget tabled under the current MADANI administration. - October 11, 2025
