THE Penang branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has urged the public to lodge formal complaints if they suspect tampering of fuel pump meters by petrol station operators under the BUDI MADANI RON95 targeted subsidy scheme (BUDI95).
State director S. Jegan stressed that official channels exist for reporting such issues, and that circulating allegations on social media does not help resolve them.
“If there are any issues concerning BUDI95, report them to KPDN because we have formal channels that can be used. Spreading claims on social media does not help solve the problem,” he said.
“To date, we have not received any (other) complaints regarding the BUDI95 programme since its implementation, except for one technical issue caused by human error which has since been resolved,” Jegan added.
He was speaking to reporters following a site inspection in conjunction with the Deepavali 2025 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) in Butterworth.
Jegan noted that tampering with the fuel pump meter system is not easily done and that subsidy amounts under the BUDI95 initiative have been clearly defined.
The statement comes in response to social media posts alleging that petrol volumes dispensed have been lower than usual since the nationwide rollout of the BUDI95 scheme.
On Saturday, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Ali stated that the ministry will take firm action against any leakage or misappropriation of BUDI95 subsidies.
He added that real-time monitoring is in place via an integrated system between KPDN and the Ministry of Finance, allowing direct tracking of purchasing trends at petrol stations. - October 16, 2025
