Forestry Officer pleads not guilty to accepting bribes to help obtain logging licence

A FOREST Conservation Officer at the Negeri Sembilan Forestry Office claimed trial at the Kota Baharu Sessions Court to a charge of accepting bribes of RM3,500 from 2019 to 2023 to assist Ching Fook Loong obtain a license.

The licence was to carry out logging work as a logging contractor in the Forest Plantation Project in the Lesong Forest Reserve area (Keratong Subdistrict) Rompin, Pahang.

Nazri Husin, 54, was previously charged on 2 October 2025 at the Seremban Sessions Court with 116 charges under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 for accepting bribes of RM649,169.68.

The accused faced two charges under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

Judge Dazuki Ali ordered the case to be transferred to the Seremban Sessions Court and fixed Oct 24 for mention.

Jualaila Jamaluddin prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Nurul Nadia Norrizan. - October 21, 2025
