BARISAN Nasional (BN) Sabah has reinforced its internal cohesion and forward strategy ahead of the 17th Sabah state election (PRN17), following a high-level meeting between its state chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin, and MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong in Kota Kinabalu.

The meeting, held in a spirit of fraternity, served as a platform for both leaders to exchange views on current issues and the broader direction of BN in Sabah.

Bung Moktar said the discussion affirmed BN’s resolve to remain a principled, organised and mature political coalition, even as it navigates the evolving political landscape in the state.

“The spirit of cooperation among BN component parties remains strong, built on mutual trust and shared responsibility towards the people,” he said.

He described MCA’s influence in urban areas and UMNO’s strength in rural constituencies as a combined force vital to sustaining political stability at both state and national levels.

“This combined strength is essential to ensuring Sabah continues to progress within a stable political environment that centres on the welfare of the people,” Bung said.

He added that BN Sabah would continue engaging in strategic discussions with coalition partners to ensure that its approach to PRN17 is grounded in the people’s interests, not personal or factional gain.

“Stability is not just a slogan, but a responsibility and a sincere commitment to building a better future for Sabah,” he said.

Bung also noted that the meeting with Wee Ka Siong demonstrated BN’s ongoing unity and shared determination to strengthen cohesion within the coalition, while keeping the well-being of the people as its central priority. - October 21, 2025
