THE management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the monitoring of foreign nationals holding long-term visas are expected to dominate proceedings at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s website, Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN–Kuala Pilah) is set to question the Health Minister on the ministry’s efforts to ease the burden of NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity through an integrated strategy that promotes healthy living and bolsters primary healthcare services.

He will also seek clarification on inter-ministerial collaboration to ensure that public health interventions are implemented effectively across the nation during the question-and-answer session.

In the same session, Mohd Hasnizan Harun (PN–Hulu Selangor) will ask the Home Minister to outline the monitoring and enforcement measures in place for foreign nationals granted long-term visas or participating in the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme, to ensure adherence to national laws and to prevent involvement in activities that may jeopardise public safety.

Meanwhile, Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan (PN–Tasek Gelugor) will question the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister on the measures taken and planned within ASEAN to reduce non-tariff barriers, in an effort to promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the region.

Following the question-and-answer session, Members of Parliament are scheduled to continue debates on the 2026 Supply Bill (Budget).- October 27, 2025
