THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has recorded more than 37 million visitors to its Semak Mule portal since its launch in October 2020, signalling a growing public awareness of financial fraud.

Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, Director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) at Bukit Aman, said the portal has become a key reference point for Malaysians to verify bank accounts, phone numbers, and company names suspected of involvement in fraudulent activities.

“The PDRM Semak Mule portal can be accessed at [https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my](https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my). It was developed to help the public check bank accounts, phone numbers and company names suspected of being involved in financial crimes,” he said at a press conference at the JSJK headquarters in Menara KPJ today.

Rusdi explained that the portal was fully developed in-house by JSJK using ColdFusion Programming, MySQL Database, and Apache Server, without incurring external costs. This approach ensures complete data security and user privacy, as the system’s source code is wholly owned by PDRM.

“The portal was officially launched on 7 October 2020 by the then Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, and has recorded 37,008,615 visitors as of 26 October. From 1 January to 26 October this year alone, 3.8 million users have accessed the site. This demonstrates a clear increase in public awareness regarding online transaction safety,” he added.

During its operation, the portal has processed 26,543,023 searches, of which 2,717,994 returned positive results involving bank accounts, phone numbers, and company names previously used in financial scams. The database currently contains 299,531 bank accounts, 233,568 phone numbers, and 7,867 company names linked to commercial crimes.

“Semak Mule is not only recognised domestically but is also used by police forces in Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Indonesia for cross-border investigations. The portal collaborates strategically with major financial institutions such as Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Hong Leong, and Public Bank, as well as e-commerce platforms including Lazada, Zalora, Go Shop, and Mudah.my,” he said.

Rusdi emphasised that the initiative has strengthened public awareness of financial crime and reinforced PDRM’s reputation as a high-tech, innovative enforcement agency in the region. “The Semak Mule initiative aligns with the Malaysia MADANI concept, based on sustainability, well-being, innovation, and compassion, reflecting JSJK’s ongoing commitment to protecting the interests of the public and ensuring the nation’s financial security,” he added. - October 30, 2025
