PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is expected to unveil its list of candidates for the 17th Sabah Gereral Election on 9 or 10 November, according to the party’s Sabah Chairman, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

He said the official announcement will be made in Kota Kinabalu by PKR President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Seat negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) have been finalised, while discussions with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) are down to just one seat. I believe it will be settled very soon,” Mustapha told reporters after attending the Jelajah Harapan Urang Sabah event organised by the Sabah PKR leadership council on Friday night.

On the party’s focus in Sandakan, Mustapha said PKR Sabah will contest two state seats — Gum Gum and Karamunting.

“One candidate will represent the Sabah Bumiputera Muslim community and another the Chinese community. Through this tour, we aim to clarify the initiatives of the Madani Government for Sabah.

“Sometimes people are swayed by misconceptions, and through Jelajah Urang Sabah, we represent the Madani Government, the party, and Pakatan Harapan to explain our contributions to the grassroots,” he said.

The Election Commission has set 29 November as polling day for the 17th Sabah State Election, with nomination day on 15 November and early voting on 25 November. - November 1, 2025
