A 38-YEAR-OLD plantation worker was stabbed in the abdomen by an acquaintance in an incident believed to have been motivated by revenge at Kampung Sri Damai, Jalan Gambang, on Friday evening.

The victim sustained injuries from a knife approximately five inches long outside his home at around 7 pm and was admitted to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) Kuantan in stable condition.

Chief of Kuantan District Police, Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah, said preliminary investigations revealed that the 25-year-old suspect had called the victim outside his house, prompting an argument.

“The suspect is said to have asked the victim to follow him on the pretext that a friend wanted to meet him, but the victim refused. The suspect then suddenly drew a knife from the back of his trousers and stabbed the victim in the abdomen before fleeing,” he told Sinar Harian on Sunday.

The unemployed suspect was arrested shortly after the incident by officers from Jaya Gading Police Station.

“Investigations found that the incident was motivated by revenge, as the victim was alleged to have previously reported the suspect’s drug-related activities to the police,” Ashari added.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a sharp weapon.

A video of the incident, lasting around 40 seconds, circulated on social media on Sunday, showing the two men arguing by the roadside before the attack.

Two children were visible near the scene as one of the men allegedly stabbed the victim and fled in a blue car.

The victim was later seen walking towards a nearby house and reportedly requesting a machete from someone in the vicinity.

The motive and identities of those involved remain under investigation, with the incident confirmed by Ashari as having occurred two days prior. - November 2, 2025
