Higher Education Minister hints at imminent cabinet reshuffle
“PM just smiled as a signal, because I won’t be here long, just two or three weeks more,” Zamby says - November 7, 2025

HIGHER Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has hinted that a Cabinet reshuffle may take place within the next two to three weeks.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Putrajaya Ideas Festival (FOI), Zambry appealed for the Prime Minister’s ongoing support for the festival in the coming years, despite uncertainty over his own position in the Cabinet.

“Once again, I hope for the Prime Minister’s unwavering support for the years to come. Whether I continue as a Cabinet minister or not is secondary. This is a national agenda,” he said at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Friday.

He added with a wry smile, referring to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s reaction: “PM just smiled as a signal, because I won’t be here long, just two or three weeks more.”

Zambry, who also serves as the Secretary-General of Barisan Nasional, was sworn in as a Senator on 2 December 2022 at Istana Negara before being appointed as Minister of Defence and subsequently as Minister of Higher Education.

Other ministers sworn in on the same day included Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. Tengku Zafrul is notable as the only senator among them to have served two terms, compared with three terms for the others. - November 7, 2025
