HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has said that the long-standing diplomatic friendship between Malaysia and Bahrain holds great potential for broader cooperation in the future.

Speaking at a State Banquet hosted by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Sakhir Palace on Friday evening, His Majesty described Bahrain as a key strategic partner for Malaysia and expressed hope that relations between the two nations would be further strengthened, particularly in the economic sphere, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

“Bahrain and Malaysia share mutual respect and a spirit of brotherhood, as well as common values, aspirations and a commitment to peace, prosperity and progress for our people.

“I hope this State Visit will mark a new chapter in shaping the future direction of our bilateral relations,” Sultan Ibrahim said.

In his speech, King Hamad expressed Bahrain’s commitment to being a sincere and long-term strategic partner for Malaysia by enhancing cooperation across multiple fields.

“Malaysia’s impressive growth has been achieved through excellence in business, industry and agriculture — areas that are also Bahrain’s strengths,” he said.

“Therefore, we have many opportunities to benefit from each other in sectors such as banking, financial technology, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure development.

“Your Majesty and your nation have been loyal friends and brothers to Bahrain, and as a gesture of appreciation for Your Majesty’s visit, I sincerely hope that our friendship will continue to flourish and prosper in the years ahead,” King Hamad added.

Sultan Ibrahim’s arrival at Sakhir Palace in Zallaq was greeted by King Hamad, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and members of the Bahraini royal family.

His Majesty was accompanied by Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj, and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.

Sultan Ibrahim arrived in Bahrain on Thursday following a four-day State Visit to Saudi Arabia.

This visit marks His Majesty’s sixth State Visit since ascending the throne, following earlier visits to Singapore, China, Brunei, Russia and Saudi Arabia, and is the first royal visit from Malaysia to Bahrain since 1974 — symbolising a historic milestone in bilateral relations. - November 8, 2025
