BERSATU's internal crisis does not pose a risk to the seats that Perikatan Nasional (PN) will contest in the 17th State Election (PRN17).

Party President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said the people in Sabah are more concerned about the state, the parties contesting in PRN17 and what the party has to offer.

He said the internal problems facing Bersatu are minor and easier to resolve, compared to what the people of this state want in the election.

"I don't think so. I went down (Sabah), people didn't talk about it (the crisis facing Bersatu).

"They are more concerned about the state, wanting to know which parties are contesting, what we have to offer.

"So the problems we face are minor compared to what they think," he told reporters after the Launch of the Sabah PN Machinery, yesterday.

Also present were Bersatu Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Sabah PN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

Muhyiddin, who is also PN Chairman, said that the number of seats that PN will contest will be announced simultaneously with the announcement of candidates on November 11.

He said that PN is confident of winning several seats in the 17th Sabah general election based on field surveys and the encouraging response in most areas.

"In many places we thought there were no supporters, (but) it seems they welcomed them enthusiastically and this is a sign that we may be able to win in several areas," he said.

On the possibility of joining hands with the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) which broke away from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to contest solo, Muhyiddin said that PN had a bad experience with the party.

He said that the existing component parties in PN were sufficient and the party machinery was ready to face the election. – November 8, 2025
