DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his surprise today over speculation that former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar might soon return to the Cabinet.

The Prime Minister was approached by journalists after attending the National Development Symposium 2025 at Dewan Damar Sari.

“Really? Who told you?” he replied with a smile when asked about the rumours concerning the former Rembau Member of Parliament.

The media had previously reported that Khairy, who was expelled from Umno in January 2023, could rejoin the party and be appointed Minister of Environment and Water. Khairy, however, has declined to comment on the matter.

Other names linked to the anticipated Cabinet reshuffle include Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who is expected to head the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, the current Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, who is reported to be in line for a full ministerial post, replacing Datuk Ewon Benedick following his recent resignation.

The Cabinet reshuffle, reportedly prompted by vacancies in several ministerial positions, is expected to be announced by Datuk Seri Anwar in early December. - November 12, 2025
