AMBANK today issued an apology following a video showing a man believed to be homeless being sprayed with water and kicked outside its Taman Maluri branch.

The video has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism over the alleged inhumane treatment.

The bank said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident, and that no individual deserved to be treated in such a manner.

It was earlier reported that netizens expressed anger and upset following the viral video which showed a female security guard and a man chasing a homeless man who was sleeping on the walkway.

The guard is seen spraying the sleeping man with water, after which a man joins her. He is seen kicking the man, then also spraying him with water.

The homeless man is seen getting up and leaving quietly.

"The security guard was employed by an external security service provider appointed by the bank, while the second man was believed to be a cobbler who had been frustrated with the victim.

“Regardless, we expect all personnel representing our bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest professional conduct,” the bank said in a statement. - November 25, 2025
