DAP today said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into the case involving former Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin must be conducted without fear or favour.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Yeo Bee Yin said, DAP welcomes the stance by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who said the MACC has full freedom to investigate Shamsul Iskandar independently and without any interference.

According to her, DAP is of the view that any allegations of misconduct, especially involving public officials, must be dealt with the utmost firmness.

“Scandals like this not only affect the integrity of the individuals involved, but also risk tarnishing the credibility of the Unity Government and its commitment to clean, transparent and integrity-based governance.

“DAP is consistent in its stance that a government held accountable by the people must remain clean and not tolerate corruption in any form,” she said in a statement today.

Earlier, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said they would immediately investigate allegations of a bribe being given by a businessman known as Albert Tei to Shamsul Iskandar.

According to him, the MACC will also call Albert and Shamsul Iskandar soon to give statements.

Yesterday, the media reported Albert's allegations that, among other things, he had given RM629,000 to Shamsul Iskandar on the grounds that he was convinced he could get back the money that was channeled to politicians in Sabah.

Shamsul Iskandar yesterday also announced his resignation as the Prime Minister's Senior Political Secretary because he claimed that there were parties trying to attack him with issues that could damage the image of the Madani Government. – November 26, 2025
