PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has acknowledged the results of the 17th Sabah state election as a clear message from voters, describing the outcome as both a reminder and an opportunity for introspection as the party charts its political future.

In a joint statement, PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the results underscored voters’ sentiments on issues of governance, transparency and local leadership.

They said the Sabah polls had delivered an unmistakable lesson: disunity does not merely weaken a party’s political standing but erodes public trust in its ability to provide stable and responsible leadership.

“I, as deputy president, take full collective responsibility as part of the team for this outcome. Together with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution as joint election director, we recognise that the long journey of a struggle does not rest solely on winning, but on the willingness to acknowledge weaknesses, correct them and rise again stronger,” the statement read.

Nurul Izzah and Saifuddin described PKR’s contesting of 12 seats as an encouraging sign, noting that it reflected growing confidence in the party’s presence in Sabah.

“The support from our machinery and members continues to strengthen; it may not be a victory in numbers, but it is a victory in determination and commitment,” they said.

PKR also expressed its gratitude to party workers and grassroots members who devoted their time, energy and resources throughout the campaign period.

The party extended its congratulations to all candidates who secured the people’s mandate, including PKR’s sole winning candidate in the state election. - November 30, 2025
