DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim slammed the opposition for still not being satisfied with the investigation process against Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Akin, stressing that his former Senior Political Secretary was not given 'special treatment' by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The Prime Minister said that he did not defend Shamsul Iskandar at all, and that his former staff member was also arrested and handcuffed.
In fact, he stressed once again that there was no interference or 'reprimand' by his party against the MACC, which was given complete freedom throughout the investigation process.
"In the case that the MACC is currently investigating. Just look, what else do you want it to do? The person was handcuffed with an orange shirt. I think there are many other serious cases that were not handcuffed either.
"Not satisfied yet? I haven't said a word to the MACC. I've told them, they are free to investigate, let them investigate. What else do you want?" he said during the Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQT) session at the Dewan Rakyat, today.
He was answering a supplementary question from Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) regarding Anwar's previous statement stating that Shamsul Iskandar's resignation was proof of the integrity of the MADANI Government.
Last Friday, Shamsul Iskandar was remanded for six days until Thursday to assist in the investigation into bribery involving controversial businessman, Albert Tei.
Shamsul Iskandar resigned as the Prime Minister's Senior Political Secretary after claiming that there was an attempt to use the controversy to tarnish his reputation and the government's image. - December 2, 2025
