THE deep-sea search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 will resume on Dec 30 this year, the Transport Ministry (MOT) said today.

In a statement, the ministry said Ocean Infinity has confirmed to the Government of Malaysia that it will recommence seabed search operations for a total of 55 days, to be carried out intermittently.

“The search will focus on targeted areas assessed to have the highest probability of locating the aircraft, in accordance with the service agreement signed between the Government of Malaysia and Ocean Infinity on March 25,” the ministry said as reported by Bernama.

It said that the latest development underscores the Government of Malaysia’s commitment to providing closure to the families affected by this tragedy.

The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared from radar on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing carrying 239 passengers and crew.

Despite one of the most extensive search operations in aviation history, led jointly by Malaysia, Australia and China, the aircraft was not found within the primary search zone in the southern Indian Ocean.

Over the years, several pieces of aircraft debris confirmed or believed to be from MH370 were discovered along coastlines in the western Indian Ocean, including in Mozambique, Madagascar and Réunion Island. - December 3, 2025
