A BRITISH-led search for MH370 has been launched in what is likely to be the final search for the plane that vanished over a decade.

According to foreign reports, marine robotics firm Ocean Infinity's deep-water support vessel Armada 7806 arrived at a new search zone in the Indian Ocean, 1,200 miles off Perth, Australia, over the weekend.

Ocean Infinity has begun scouring the seabed to find the plane and the company's deep-water support vessel, Armada 7806, is now searching a new area of the vast Indian Ocean.

The search will reportedly cover 15,000 sq km over six weeks, focusing on high-priority areas where debris from the Boeing 777 may be located.

The AUVs and remote recovery vehicles are being operated via satellite link from Ocean Infinity's control centre in Southampton.

Flight MH370 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew members before disappearing.

This new mission comes after the Malaysian government indicated last December that it was willing to support new searches to find the jet.

Despite the largest search in aviation history, which combed 46,332 square miles of the sea floor of the southern Indian Ocean, only a few fragments of the Boeing 777-200ER plane have been found, scattered on beaches thousands of miles apart. – February 25, 2025
