FORMER senior political aide Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and businessman Albert Tei arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 8.05 am on Thursday to face multiple corruption charges.

Shamsul Iskandar was dressed in a green batik shirt, while Tei wore a turquoise-collared T-shirt, and both were accompanied by officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) without handcuffs.

Earlier, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that both men would be charged with five counts of bribery, adding that the investigations had been completed and the charges would be filed under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

The two individuals are expected to face four corruption charges each at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today, with a fifth charge for each to be heard at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Friday. Tei will be charged under Section 17(b) of the MACC Act 2009, while Shamsul Iskandar will face charges under Section 17(a) of the same law.

“Investigations into the case have been completed, and we have received instructions to prosecute both individuals,” Tan Sri Azam Baki said yesterday.
