KUALA LUMPUR – Owing to the rising number of Covid-19 cases at Kamunting Correctional Centre in Taiping, Perak, the premises will be put under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from tomorrow onwards.

The EMCO will be implemented until January 12.

Since December 24, the Health Ministry has carried out 1,490 screenings and detected 50 Covid-19 cases at the facility.

In a statement today, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this is to curb the spread of the virus to other inmates, staff, family members and nearby communities. – The Vibes, December 29, 2020
