A MAN’S attempt to report a lost MyKad turned chaotic when he was identified as an individual wanted by the police in connection with a drug case.

Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook said the incident occurred when the suspect involved presented himself at the complaint counter of the Pantai Police Station, Jalan Pantai Baharu, Kuala Lumpur.

He said the 36-year-old suspect fled as soon as he was informed of his status, before being successfully arrested after being chased by several policemen not far from the location of the incident, reported Harian Metro.

"The suspect came to the complaints counter to report a missing MyKad.

"After the complaint counter staff checked the suspect's identity, it was found that the suspect was an individual wanted by the police under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

According to Hoo, several policemen then chased the suspect who fled towards the riverbank near a hotel on Jalan Pantai Baharu.

He said the suspect was successfully arrested at the location without sustaining any injuries.

"The results of interrogation found that the suspect admitted to obstructing a public servant by fleeing and an investigation is being conducted under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the performance of his duties," he said.

He said the investigation papers would be referred to the Kuala Lumpur Deputy Public Prosecutor's office with a proposed charge before the charge was carried out on the same date at the Kuala Lumpur Court along with the case by the Brickfields District Headquarters (IPD) Narcotics Division. – December 17, 2025
