SABAH Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on political secretaries to exercise their roles responsibly, warning against the misuse of their positions for personal agendas and stressing the importance of team collaboration in implementing government policies.

“I expect political secretaries to carry out the duties entrusted to them to the best of their ability and to support their respective ministers and the government. I will not hesitate to take action against those found to have betrayed the trust placed in them,” News Straits Times reported him saying.

Hajiji emphasised that political secretaries must function as a cohesive team to guarantee the effective execution of government initiatives.

The Chief Minister’s Department has appointed a new team of political secretaries, led by Azrul Ibrahim as Chief Political Secretary, alongside Datuk Effendi Mohamed Sunoh, Datuk Mazlan @ Joehari Manan, Datuk Arthur Sen, Datuk Norazlinah Arif, Datuk Lahirul Latigu, Noorazmahirah Noorzain, and Mohd Isquzawan Israq Arsit.

Additional political secretaries serving various ministries include Dr Bonaventure Boniface (Works and Utilities), Johari @ Joe Suhaimin (Finance), Carlyle Lajimin (Industrial, Entrepreneurship and Transport), Abd Wahid Abd Razak (Local Government and Housing), Justinus Jalang (Education, Science, Technology and Innovation), M Aziriansyah Ali (Youth, Sports and Creative), Sabili Ahunang (Rural Development), Marius Masain (Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing), Datuk Raimie Unggi (Tourism, Culture and Environment), and Herbert Roger (Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry).

Hajiji also highlighted the vital role political secretaries play in ensuring the public receives accurate information about government programmes.

“We want the people to receive correct information on the state government’s efforts; otherwise, they may accuse us of making empty promises,” he said, stressing the need for policies and programme details to reach grassroots communities.

“Political secretaries play a vital role in our governance system. I want all political secretaries to assist the government and their respective ministers, particularly in disseminating policies, including information about Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0, which will commence next year,” he added, underlining their central role in the administration and communication of state initiatives. - December 18, 2025
