POLICE have dismantled an international drug syndicate operating from a three-storey bungalow, following the arrest of six suspects in the Klang Valley on Tuesday, seizing narcotics valued at an estimated RM1.53 billion.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the operation, codenamed Ops Gaharu, led to the detention of three local men and three foreign women aged between 24 and 39.
“In the first raid, all suspects were arrested at a residential house and six bottles of liquid suspected to contain methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), weighing around three kilograms, were seized,” Hussein stated at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters on Saturday.
A subsequent raid at a premise in Taman Taynton View, Cheras, resulted in the confiscation of 738 kilograms of suspected cocaine in powder and liquid forms, along with various drug-processing equipment.
Further operations at an industrial premise in Sungai Chua, Kajang, led to the seizure of suspected ketamine powder and liquid, together with processing equipment. At Taman Industri Mega, Bandar Teknologi Kajang, authorities recovered 28 sacks containing 1,400 plastic packets of suspected ketamine powder, weighing more than 1.402 kilograms.
Hussein explained the syndicate’s structure, noting that the first suspect acted as the chief storekeeper and assistant to a chemist, while two others managed the residential and commercial premises used as illicit drug laboratories.
“The syndicate, active since April, used both residential houses and commercial premises to process drugs before distributing them internationally,” he said.
Police also seized several vehicles, including cars and lorries, under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Forfeiture of Property) 1988, with the total estimated value of the assets confiscated reaching RM389,000.
Initial urine tests revealed that three suspects tested positive for drugs, with only one having a prior drug-related record. All six suspects have been remanded for seven days, from 17 to 23 December, to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - December 20, 2025
