A MAJOR traffic jam stretching up to 10 kilometres was reported on the North–South Expressway on Monday following an accident involving a tanker lorry and three cars along the Ipoh–Simpang Pulai stretch.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad said the crash occurred at Kilometre 281.5, where the tanker lorry ended up blocking the middle of the highway, obstructing several lanes and severely slowing traffic flow.

In a traffic update issued at 1.03 pm, PLUS reported congestion of approximately 10 kilometres in the northbound direction, while southbound traffic was backed up for about five kilometres.

Motorists were advised to comply with instructions from traffic controllers and to observe warning signs placed at the scene. Drivers were also encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid prolonged delays.

“Road users may exit via the Gopeng Toll Plaza or the Tapah Toll Plaza as alternative routes,” PLUS said.
